In the first season of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2008, Ganguly was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as the team’s marquee player for a fee of ₹4.37 crores. He played in Kolkata for 3 years, before the newly formed IPL team Pune Warriors India signed him in 2012. Ganguly’s signing amount with PWI was ₹ 1.84 crores. He played there for another two years.
